Return to the meeting point
Back where you started.
The morning is built around one waterfall. Thirty to forty minutes of easy wading up a river under thick subtropical canopy gets you there — most groups spend an hour at the pool before they realise. Lunch is laid out on the rocks. The water is cold. You'll want to swim twice. During the colder months, lunch is a hot bowl of Okinawa soba to warm you up, served at a charming little place deep in Motobu.
What happens after lunch depends on the day. In the afternoon, we cycle a stretch of the old Ryukyu coast through villages most travellers drive past, and stop at a local power spot with incredicle views. Learn the importance of this power spot to the locals.
If arranged at the time of booking, we can tailor the afternoon activity to suit your group. Options include sea kayaking through a peaceful jungle waterway, a guided hike to one of Okinawa’s best panoramic viewpoints, a hands-on yachimun pottery studio experience, or a private charter island hop to Minna Island for an afternoon snorkel in some of Okinawa’s clearest waters.
“Best day of our whole trip to Japan. We did an unbelievable river walk to a waterfall and then snorkelling. Breathtaking experience.”

The north doesn't get many visitors who stay long enough to really see it. We've been running this route for years and it still surprises us. Come ready to move — and leave the rest to us..

Read all reviewsWould highly recommend Things To Do In Okinawa for anyone wanting an amazing day in Okinawa. We selected a full day tour which included a hike to a waterfall (which we ended up having all to ourselves!), lunch, and then a charter boat to two snorkelling locations. Our group was small (only 3 people) which we loved since then we really got to know the other wonderful person in our group as well as our amazing guide Aya. Aya was wonderful and graciously shared with us a lot of Okinawa history throughout the day which we really enjoyed. They also provided everything we needed- including boots to wear on our trek to the waterfall and all snorkelling gear. I think the ability to really customize your day, the small groups, and Aya’s great guidance make a Things To Do in Okinawa tour well worth it!!
Full day north Okinawa tour Leuke diverse dag met een gezellige tour gids!
We booked a full day north Okinawa tour and requested both a river trek and a hike up Mount Katsuudake. We had a great time with Yumi (who is fluent in English and - as a native Okinawan - very knowledgeable on local customs). She kept the mood light and fun.
