A full day in the Kerama Islands, handled end to end. You'll cross by high-speed ferry to maximise island time, cycle Zamami's coast to viewpoints over the famous Kerama blue, eat a bowl of island-grown mozuku soba, then spend the afternoon snorkelling reefs where sea turtles are close to a sure thing — home to Naha by evening.

The longer story

The crossing sets the tone. Fifty-odd minutes out of Tomari on the high-speed ferry and the water starts turning that particular Kerama blue you've probably seen in photos and assumed was edited. It isn't. From the port on Zamami we swap to e-bikes and ride the coast road up to a run of viewpoints looking out over the other islands — Aka, Geruma, Tokashiki floating in the haze — with the whole archipelago spread out below.

Lunch is a bowl of mozuku soba, made with seaweed grown in the water you've been looking at all morning. Then the best part of the day: out on the boat to snorkel the reefs around Zamami, Aka, and Tokashiki, wherever the sea's behaving best that afternoon. Our captain has been running these waters for years and puts your odds of seeing a sea turtle at about 99%. In the right season, manta rays too — in the ocean, nothings guarenteed, but they come through.

Once you're back and rinsed off, there's no rush to the ferry. We pull the footage from your snorkel to your phone, wander the little port market — hand-worked sea jewellery, island tees, the sort of thing you actually keep — and duck into Zamami's coral exhibition, a cool, quiet room to read up on what lives here, above and below the water, over a coffee or tea. Then the ferry home, back in Naha by six.

The practical bits.

This tour was exactly what I needed, calm, beautiful, and perfectly paced. The guides David and Aya really helped me see the beauty of Okinawa and make connections with locals along the way.

A few weeks ago I did the 3 day Northern Okinawa tour and it was incredible. The Nago forests are spectacular it felt as if we had been transported into a different ancient time. Century old trees teaming with life and cascading waterfalls this place was really special. The trekking wasn’t too difficult and we were given enough rest stops to sit and take in the beauty. The dinner with Shimura san was well deserved after a long day. Quite the spread of local authentic food all freshly prepared. Zip lining, kayaking through the mangroves, the cliffs at Cape Hedo, an incredible 3 days definitely the highlight to our Japan Trip. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Aya was very professional and knowledgeable about the history of Okinawa and what Okinawa can offer outside of its cities. The waterfalls, ocean views, and forests were beautiful to experience and the food was amazing (10/10). Highly recommend this touring company to family and friends. I also plan on coming back! Thank you Aya and David for making Okinawa feel like a second home. Arigato gozaimasu 🙂‍↕️
